Six displays have 2026 dates so far, from Blyth beach on Halloween to Hexham and Alnwick on Saturday 7 November. Here's what each costs, where to park, and which towns are still keeping quiet.
Bonfire night in Northumberland 2026 runs from Saturday 31 October to Saturday 7 November: Blyth beach (free, 31 October, low-noise display 6pm, main display 7.30pm), Morpeth Rugby Club (1 November, bonfire lit 6pm), Ponteland Community Primary School (5 November, fireworks 6pm, £5.50), then Hexham's free display on the Sele, Alnwick Round Table at Greensfield and Newbiggin on 7 November. Berwick, Rothbury, Amble and Cramlington had nothing confirmed for 2026 when we checked on 29 September.

Bonfire night in Northumberland is two weekends this year, not one night. The fifth of November lands on a Thursday in 2026, so most towns have shuffled their fireworks to the nearest Saturday or Sunday: Blyth goes on Halloween, Morpeth the day after, and Hexham, Alnwick and Newbiggin all pile onto Saturday 7 November. Which means you get to choose. So does everybody else in the county.
Below is every public display in the county we could pin to a 2026 date, with times and prices where published. Where a town hasn't announced (Berwick, Rothbury, Amble and Cramlington, I'm looking at you) we say so and give last year's timing, clearly labelled. Newcastle Racecourse and Gateshead turn up in searches for Northumberland fireworks, but they're not in Northumberland, so they're not here.
One grumble. Visit Northumberland's bonfire page has been updated for 2026, but some wording underneath is left over from earlier years: the Blyth entry still says 'Saturday 2 November' and gives one 7pm display, and the Alnwick entry mentions '2025 on Saturday 8 November'. Where it disagrees with the organiser's own page, I've gone with the organiser.
Blyth does it on Halloween, which is either genius or chaos depending on how many of your bairns are dressed as a pumpkin. It's free, it's on the seafront, and it's the only display we found with a proper low-noise show aimed at little ones.
Blyth Town Council runs the night at Mermaid Car Park (NE24 3PL) from 4pm to 9pm, with a funfair, food stalls (doughnuts, fried chicken, pizza, hot chocolate) and a spooky disco with Halloween characters from 4pm. There are two displays: a low-noise one at 6pm, which the council says suits young children and people with sensory difficulties, and a traditional one at 7.30pm.
The catch is the car park itself. It shuts completely at 4pm because that's where the event is, there's no parking on site, and the council says civil enforcement officers will be patrolling, so don't try the verges, the junctions or somebody's cul-de-sac. The council promises extra buses and updated timetables; check them before you set off. Earlier that week there are free Halloween crafts at the Market Pavilion (Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October, 10am to 4pm) and a parade on Friday 30 October at 3pm.
Morpeth Rugby Football Club runs this one at Grange House Field on Mitford Road (NE61 1RJ). Visit Northumberland lists gates at 5pm and the bonfire lit at 6pm on Sunday 1 November 2026, and it's one of the few 2026 listings that mentions an actual bonfire rather than just fireworks. A Sunday is a canny choice if there's school the next day, because you can be home by bath time. (Well. Bath time plus the argument about bath time.)
The club hasn't published 2026 prices. As a guide only: in 2024 it was £7 for adults and £5 for under-12s, cash only on the gate, with refreshments in the clubhouse, according to the Northumberland Gazette. Take cash until they say otherwise.
The only 2026 display we found on Bonfire Night itself, run by the school's Friends group at Ponteland Community Primary School on Callerton Lane (NE20 9EY). Gates open at 4.30pm and the fireworks start at 6pm, with music, hot drinks, food and fairground rides in between. Tickets are £5.50 for everyone aged 2 and over, under-2s free, plus a Ticketebo booking fee of 27p a ticket (75p minimum per order).
It's a school night, but 6pm fireworks mean nobody five years old is up past eight. The booking page doesn't say whether you can pay on the gate, so book online.
Three displays on one night, nowhere near each other. Hexham is free and, says Visit Northumberland, one of the town's biggest nights of the year; Alnwick costs a few quid but has a funfair and a bar.
Hexham Town Council puts this on with Hexham Rotary Club and Tynedale Lions on the Sele (NE46 3NB), the big park beside the town centre, at 7pm on Saturday 7 November 2026. It's free. Volunteers come round with buckets and the money goes to local charities and community projects, so bring some change.
The council's page doesn't mention a bonfire, gate times, parking, toilets or food, so don't assume any of it; ring the council (01434 609575) if it matters. Hexham is on the Tyne Valley railway line, which beats circling for a space on a Saturday night; check the last train home.
Alnwick and District Round Table's display is at Alnwick Town Juniors Football Club at Greensfield (the Greensfield Sports Bar), with gates at 6pm and the first launch at 7.30pm. Visit Northumberland says gates at 6.30pm; the Round Table's own page says 6pm, and I'd trust them. Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for children aged 4 to 16, with under-4s free, and there's 10% off until 13 October. Pay on the gate by cash or card, or buy fast-track tickets online and skip the queue.
There are food trucks, the club bar is open before, during and after, and the funfair goes in the car park, which tells you roughly how much car park is left for your car. The Round Table (a registered charity) pays for each display from the previous year's gate money, so this year's £6 is next year's rockets.
Visit Northumberland lists Newbiggin's fireworks for Saturday 7 November 2026, with food vendors and entertainment, but no times, venue or price yet. As a guide only, last year's (Saturday 8 November 2025) had kids' rides and a free display on the beach near the Maritime Centre from 6pm, according to the Northumberland Gazette, and North East Family Fun's list added a bonfire and said donations were expected.
A lot of Northumberland does bonfire night small and local, and small and local announces late, usually on Facebook a fortnight before. Everything in this list is last year's timing (or older, where it says so), not 2026.
If your town isn't here at all (Prudhoe, Ashington, Bedlington, Wooler, Corbridge, Seahouses), we couldn't find a 2025 or 2026 public display we'd stand behind, which doesn't mean there isn't one. New displays go into the Almanac first.
None of Northumberland's castles has a Bonfire Night display announced for 2026. The one big-venue fireworks show this autumn is a month early, at the Alnwick Garden's birthday party.
The garden is 25 and throwing itself a party from Thursday 1 to Sunday 4 October 2026. Friday to Sunday there are evening tickets (5pm to 8.15pm) at £10, with up to four under-16s free per paying adult, and after dark the Grand Cascade finale has screens, lights, lasers and fireworks, plus fire jugglers and LED performers. Thursday is daytime only, 10am to 5pm.
It's a water-and-lasers show rather than a field with a bonfire in it, but for one adult and four kids it's £10, cheaper than any other ticketed display here with a 2026 price.
Visit Northumberland says parking is limited at many of these events and to consider public transport, and for once the official line undersells it. Blyth has no parking at all on the night. Alnwick's funfair lives in its car park. The other organisers haven't published parking plans. With small children I'd park further away than feels necessary and walk in, because the queue out of a full car park at 8pm, with a sleeping four-year-old going heavy on your shoulder, is where fireworks memories go to die.
Blyth's council promises extra buses, so check its event page that week. Hexham has trains. Everywhere else, assume you're driving and plan the walk.

Fireworks are loud in a way that doesn't register until you're next to a toddler who has decided, at the first bang, that this was all a terrible mistake. Children's over-ear defenders are the most useful thing you can bring for anyone under about five, and for older ones who hate loud noises. Put them on before the first rocket, not after the screaming starts.
Leave the dog at home. Dogs Trust is blunt: don't take your dog to a display. None of the organisers' pages mention dogs, and a field of bangs, generators and dropped chips is nobody's idea of a nice evening for a spaniel.
In a holiday cottage with a nervous dog, Dogs Trust's advice is to walk them before dark and have them settled inside well before the fireworks, close the curtains and put the lights on, put music or the telly on, check doors and fences are secure and make sure the microchip details are up to date in case they bolt. Stay with them. And it isn't only the displays: in England people can legally set off fireworks until midnight on Bonfire Night (11pm on most nights), so the whole week can be noisy.

Not one of the organisers' pages, as of 29 September, says what happens if the weather turns. Outdoor fireworks are 'weather permitting' (Seahouses billed its 2025 New Year display exactly that way), and on this coast I'd watch the wind more than the rain: rain just makes you wet, a gale is what gets displays called off. If it's blowing a hoolie at Blyth or Newbiggin, check the organiser's page or Facebook before you leave, not from a traffic jam.
If November gets away from you, Northumberland has one more go at setting things on fire.
On New Year's Eve in Allendale, crowds gather from about 11pm, the barrels are lit at 11.30pm, and around 45 guisers in fancy dress (each one born in the Allen Valleys) carry blazing tar barrels on their heads through the town to light the bonfire in the Market Place at midnight. It's free, there's no booking, and it's late for small children, but it is the most Northumberland thing that happens all winter.
Seahouses had a harbour fireworks display at 6pm on New Year's Eve 2025, weather permitting (Northumberland Gazette); nothing is announced for 2026 yet.

We couldn't find a public fireworks display in Berwick-upon-Tweed itself for 2025 or 2026. The nearest we found was Lowick, about 10 miles south, which held its Firework Night on Saturday 8 November 2025 (gates 5.45pm, display 6.30pm); its 2026 date hasn't been announced.

After the fireworks (31 October to 7 November), Christmas starts: Morpeth's lights switch-on is Saturday 14 November, Hexham's is Friday 20 November, the Alnwick Garden's Winter Lights open on Friday 20 November and Blyth switches on Saturday 21 November. Bamburgh Castle closes from Monday 9 to Friday 13 November to put its Christmas up.
